Home Manager

About the job

Nursing Home Management is great, well it can be.

Shoestring budgets aren't great, nor are directors breathing down your neck. CQC expecting you to evidence every little thing is, well that's sensible, but it is also rubbish when there's a million and one other things you'd like to be making sure is done/doing yourself.

Most of which involve putting in to practice great ideas to improve the quality of life for that lovely group of over 65's, who you rarely get to spend any time with any more.

Lord knows the reason why every other week is 60 hours long, is because you care so deeply about them.

Could your situation be better?

In 90% of care home companies the answer is no. Registered management means all of the above, plus motivating by hook or by crook, a sometimes reluctant team to bend over backwards, or bending over backwards yourself.

So how about a role where:

  • Resources are anything but scarce, because the owners have a rather canny business model and an even cannier care philosophy.
  • A care philosophy and policies that truly recognise the importance of residents AND staff AND relatives.
  • Your home is about to undergo a massive transformation. One that is orchestrated by your Managing Director, who also happens to be one of the UK's leading lights in Dementia Care Nursing theory and practice. Not forgetting his crack team.
  • Activities mean enriching experiences, not bingo.
  • Enablement means things like movement sensitive lighting systems in each room, that can guide your residents to the loo in the night.
  • Therapeutic means petting zoos and community inclusion means children's play areas.

You'd manage a place like that in exchange for a meagre £45000 per year plus bells and whistles, wouldn't you?

Especially if your staff were paid over the odds and had access to one of the best training programmes the industry has ever seen.

Well in that case, assuming you meet a few criteria, then you have got absolutely nothing to lose in giving me a call right now, to discuss exactly that with me, in greater detail.

Requirements for this position

I am looking for:

  • An elderly care Registered Manager who has an NMC PIN
  • Someone who knows what good and excellent looks like
  • Someone with experience of breaking eggs to make omelettes and who knows when and why that sometimes needs to be done.
  • You will relish creating a buzz about a place where people are truly proud to live and work.
  • You'll also know your way around a P&L.
  • In fact, if you were a stick of rock and we cut you in half, it would probably say NICE or SCIE.

Chances are you probably prefer a fair amount of autonomy but value the input of like minded colleagues whose opinion you can respect.

You got it.
